2016 Croix Mouton - Bordeaux
A must try
Croix Mouton produces wines intended for pleasure, and excellent while still young. Almost entirely Merlot driven, they are full-bodied and rich in flavor, easy to drink but with finesse and a stunning display of fresh red fruit on the palate.
Château Croix Mouton is recognised by Bordeaux wine experts as being excellent value for money.
The ‘M’ on Château Croix Mouton’s label is special. It changes shape and colour each year to reflect the personality of each vintage.
Baked red fruit with brown spice, leather and sweet vanilla. Smooth-mouthfeel, with tart-red berry fruit, all with hints of spiced anise and dried herbs in the pleasant, lasting finish
The 2016 Croix-Mouton is a gorgeous wine from Jean-Philippe Janoueix. Inky and plush in the glass, with terrific freshness, the 2016 is a highly representative wine for a year that produced dense but vibrant wines. Crème de cassis, chocolate, spice and new leather inform the juicy finish in this tasty, succulent Bordeaux Supérieur. Tasted three times.
Wine Advocate: 88-90 Points
The 2016 Croix Mouton has an attractive, perfumed, floral bouquet with crushed violet petals infusing the ripe black cherry and cassis fruit. I appreciate the elegance on display here. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, well judged acidity, a pleasant saline and black olive note surfacing towards the fresh finish. This Bordeaux Supérieur from Jean-Philippe Janoueix can often punch above its class and the 2016 is one of those.
